Building trusted partnerships and turning enterprise systems into strategic capabilities.

Our consultants combine deep technical expertise with practical business experience to help organisations realise greater value from their enterprise systems. In this edition of Life Behind the Screens, we speak with Principal Consultant Daniel Moynihan about his journey from accounting into consulting and how he helps organisations leverage finance, supply chain and performance management solutions to support better decisions, stronger governance and improved business outcomes.

Originally from Kerry in Ireland, Daniel completed a Bachelor of Business Studies degree at the University of Limerick before beginning his career in accounting. He worked across a range of accounting and finance roles in Ireland while completing the ACCA qualification, building a strong technical foundation in financial management, reporting and business operations.

Daniel later joined the Australian Red Cross during a major TechnologyOne implementation as the subject matter expert leading Accounts Payable in design workshops, user acceptance testing and internal training. He gained first-hand exposure to consultants and the way they approached complex problems. He was drawn to the breadth of their knowledge and their ability to turn that expertise into practical solutions.

This experience continues to shape Daniel’s consulting approach. Having worked within a finance team and experienced a major technology implementation from the customer perspective, he understands the practical pressures organisations face and the importance of delivering solutions that work in the real world.

After three years with the Australian Red Cross, Daniel joined TechnologyOne as a business consultant, deepening his systems knowledge and building on his experience across finance and implementation projects. During his time there, he contributed to large-scale transformation programs across local government, helping organisations modernise business processes, strengthen financial management capabilities and maximise value from their technology investments. He also worked extensively with financial services organisations, broadening his understanding of the different regulatory, operational and reporting requirements that shape their systems.

Consulting gives you exposure to an extraordinary range of organisations and challenges. Lessons from one sector can often be applied creatively in another.

Over the past nine years at Lánluas, Daniel has helped organisations across education, local government and financial services transform general ledger, chart of account restructures, supply chain, budget management and performance management functions. Working at the intersection of finance, operations and technology, he helps clients align people, processes and systems to improve performance, strengthen reporting and realise greater value from their technology investments. A significant part of Daniel’s work has involved supporting education organisations through large-scale transformation programs, including transitions to CiAnywhere. He has helped clients modernise finance operations, integrate business processes and successfully adopt new ways of working while maintaining focus on organisational objectives and stakeholder outcomes.

A well-designed system should do more than process transactions. It should give people the clarity and confidence to make better decisions.

As organisations grow and change, information often becomes fragmented across spreadsheets, systems, reports and manual processes. Without a clear and consistent view of performance, leaders can struggle to identify trends, understand key business drivers and make timely decisions with confidence. Daniel helps organisations bring together financial, operational and performance information to create a single, trusted view of business performance. By aligning data, processes and reporting with organisational priorities, he enables leaders to make more informed decisions while helping finance and supply chain teams move beyond transaction processing to focus on analysis, strategic advice and continuous improvement.

Increasingly, Daniel works with senior stakeholders to ensure reporting, planning and enterprise systems evolve alongside organisational strategy. By connecting business objectives with technology capabilities, he helps clients make investments that support long-term growth, efficiency and accountability.

Daniel believes successful transformation depends on more than technology alone. By working closely with stakeholders throughout the design and implementation process, he helps organisations manage change effectively, ensuring users understand the value of new ways of working and have the confidence to adopt them.

A technically strong solution will only succeed when the people using it understand it and see its value

Reflecting on his own career journey, Daniel believes successful consultants combine technical expertise with curiosity, communication skills and practical business experience.

Knowledge builds credibility, but experience teaches you how to apply it in a way that delivers meaningful outcomes for each customer.

Outside work, Daniel enjoys a busy family life with his two young boys. After many years on the soccer field, he embraced a new challenge by taking up tennis and quickly developed a real passion for the sport. He continues to refine his game through coaching and regular competition, while sharing his passion with his family.

As an Irishman, Daniel is especially drawn to the company’s Irish identity and the meaning behind its name, Lánluas, a name associated with speed, energy and forward momentum. These qualities align closely with Daniel’s own outlook: embracing challenges, remaining curious and pursuing progress.

Whether helping organisations navigate transformation or refining his tennis game, Daniel brings the same mindset to every challenge: understand the fundamentals, continue learning and look for opportunities to improve. It is an approach that has shaped his career and continues to guide the way he works with clients today.
